IDENTIDAD CULTURAL.<\/div>\n
La identidad cultural hace relaci\u00f3n a la auto-identificaci\u00f3n de las personas y comunidades con su matriz social (familia, comunidad, territorio, pa\u00eds, etc.) lo que nos da un sentido de pertenencia al espacio socio cultural en el que nos hemos conformado como individuos.<\/div>\n
Son los valores, las tradiciones, comportamientos, creencias y formas de ver la vida, as\u00ed como los hitos compartidos en la historia, el entorno geogr\u00e1fico y ambiental, lo que marcan un sentimiento enraizado de pertenencia a un lugar y a un colectivo.<\/div>\n
La identidad y la cultura son procesos din\u00e1micos que evolucionan en relaci\u00f3n directa con el<\/div>\n
nivel de contacto-integraci\u00f3n con el mundo exterior, en este caso con las ciudades (Cuenca,Paute y Azogues) o con los procesos globales (medios de comunicaci\u00f3n, emigraci\u00f3n internacional, inmigraciones, educaci\u00f3n).}<\/div>\n

VALORES TANGIBLES E INTANGIBLES.<\/div>\n

En la parroquia Chic\u00e1n los valores culturales que afianzan la identidad local, son aquellos que enraizados en la vida cotidiana de las comunidades campesinas, permiten la persistencia del esp\u00edritu comunitario en resistencia a las pr\u00e1cticas individualistas propias de la cultura dominante. Se pueden distinguir la identidad religiosa de la parroquia que se basa en las distintas romer\u00edas a lo largo del A\u00f1o (Virgen del Cisne, Se\u00f1or de Andacocha, Virgen de la Nube, etc.) y las fiestas religiosas.<\/div>\n
Los valores est\u00e1n presentes en fiestas y tradiciones t\u00edpicas en cada festividad, que comienzan con las v\u00edsperas en las que se practican oraciones y reflexiones de la palabra de Dios, secomplementa con la participaci\u00f3n de danzas, grupos musicales, baile de disfraces, quema de fuegos artificiales, vaca loca, castillo, la chamiza y el tradicional juego de la escaramuza, dentro de la cual el \u201cReto\u201d es un personaje especial, que con originalidad y valent\u00eda, denuncia los problemas de la comunidad. El punto central de estas celebraciones es la santa misa, finaliza con la procesi\u00f3n, acto en el cual los asistentes transportan en sus hombros a las im\u00e1genes; son formas de manifestaci\u00f3n cultural de este pueblo.<\/div>\n
